AAS-Lundbeck Research Fellowship Awards


We are offering a number of AAS-Lundbeck Research Fellowships for trainees and junior faculty to attend the 2016 AAS meeting. The awards will cover hotel, registration and some travel expenses. Eligible individuals include students, residents, post-doctoral trainees and junior faculty within 5 years of their first position (without major grant support). Applicants must be the first and presenting author of the work. You must submit a letter providing information on your training status, program director, and year of anticipated completion (if applicable). Applications must be received by June 1, 2016.

Streeten Travel Fellowship Award


The Streeten Travel Fellowship Award, made available through donations to the David H. P. Streeten Memorial Fund, will be awarded for the most outstanding abstract. The award will cover hotel, registration and some travel expenses. Applicants must have received their terminal degree (i.e. Ph.D., M.D., etc) within the prior 7 years and hold a rank no higher than assistant professor. You must submit a letter providing information on your training status, program director, and year of anticipated completion (if applicable). Applicants must be the first and presenting author of the work. Awards will not be given to the same applicant two years in a row. Applications must be received by June 1, 2016.

Penaz-Wesseling Awards


Two Penaz-Wesseling Awards, made available through Finapres Medical Systems, will be awarded for the most outstanding abstracts involving cardiovascular regulation and/or hemodynamic studies in humans. The award will cover hotel, registration and some travel expenses. Applicants must have received their terminal degree (i.e. Ph.D., M.D., etc) within the prior 7 years and hold a rank no higher than assistant professor. You must submit a letter providing information on your training status, program director, and year of anticipated completion (if applicable). Applicants must be the first and presenting author of the work. Awards will not be given to the same applicant two years in a row. Applications must be received by June 1, 2016.

The Don Summers’ Memorial MSA Travel Award


The Don Summers’ Memorial MSA Travel Award made available through the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, will be awarded for the most outstanding abstract pertaining to MSA. The award will cover hotel, registration and some travel expenses. Applicants must have received their terminal degree (i.e. Ph.D., M.D., etc) within the prior 7 years and hold a rank no higher than assistant professor. You must submit a letter providing information on your training status, program director, and year of anticipated completion (if applicable). Applicants must be the first and presenting author of the work. Awards will not be given to the same applicant two years in a row. Applications must be received by June 1, 2016.

Trainee Poster Prizes


The American Autonomic Society is sponsoring 4 poster prizes to be awarded at the 27th Annual Meeting. Poster Prizes will be restricted to scientists in training reporting original research in autonomic neuroscience. Eligible posters will be identified with a sticker when exhibited in the poster sessions. A panel of senior investigators will visit each poster and assess the work based on: novelty of idea or technique, quality of the data, potential significance of the results and clarity of presentation. Chosen prize-winners will be asked to present their work in 3-slides.

 


 

 

In order to be considered for these awards, trainees must be members of the AAS, and please submit the following (as a single .pdf) to Anita Zeller zeller.anita@mayo.edu by June 1, 2016:

 

a) a copy of your submitted abstract(s);

 

b) confirmation of your training status – a letter written by your mentor (students and post-docs) or department chair (residents or junior faculty) on departmental letterhead confirming your training status.

 

Travel fellowship awards are only available to AAS members. However, please be aware that trainee memberships are discounted to $50, and junior faculty memberships are discounted to $175. Individuals who are not yet members may complete their membership application and then are eligible to apply for the travel fellowship awards.
