Catecholamine Research: The Enduring Impact of Irv Kopin Symposium

The catecholamines dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine participate in a wide range of behaviors, physiological mechanisms, drug actions, and neurological, psychiatric, endocrine, and cardiovascular diseases. Myriad investigations based on this family of compounds over more than a century have yielded an enormous body of knowledge and led to many Nobel Prizes. This symposium honoring the memory of Dr. Irwin J. (“Irv”) Kopin will include a series of state-of-the-art lectures by world authorities in this field and, importantly a poster session that will provide a highly unusual opportunity for generations of catecholamine researchers to meet and interact with each other in a collegial setting. As such, the symposium will serve to foster the careers of young investigators doing catecholamine-related research.
