Are you interested in a post-doctoral fellowship at Mayo Clinic Rochester?  Dr. Virend Somers in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine is recruiting a Post-Doc interested in comprehensive translational studies addressing the effects of sleep and sleep disruption on physiological measurements and risk of disease.

We also have ongoing studies examining the cardiovascular and metabolic effects of obesity with special emphasis on adipocyte biology.  Depending on your interest you will be able to take part in one or more studies related to these areas.  Methodologies involved include measures in humans of endothelial function, baroreflexes, stress responses, fat biopsies for adipocyte studies, sleep studies, and if interested, microneurography. Other areas of interest include artificial intelligence and studies of the microbiota as related to sleep and cardiovascular disorders. Our research is in humans and in human cells and tissue and our studies have direct relevance to maintenance of health and prevention and treatment of disease.

Facilities include state-of-the art sleep and cardiovascular physiology laboratories and a fully equipped bench lab, as well as access to the Mayo Clinic patient population. You will be part of a large and productive group of colleagues, and will be required to be self-motivated and a team player, while also being able to work proactively and independently. Salary support will be via the T32 mechanism, requiring US citizenship or permanent residency (green card). Study support will be through several NIH grants as well as intramural and other foundation funding. Candidates must have, or be close to having, a PhD and or MD.
