POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN AUTONOMIC REGULATION

Louisiana
Posted 3 months ago

A postdoctoral research position is available within the Department of Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans, LA in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Lazartigues, PhD. Our laboratory focuses on central nervous system and peripheral regulation by the renin-angiotensin system in hypertension and diabetes (www.medschool.lsuhsc.edu/pharmacology/…). Our research interests include the molecular and physiological roles of angiotensin converting enzyme type 2 (ACE2) and ADAM17 in the regulation of cardiovascular and autonomic functions in vivo and in vitro. We use a combination of molecular, genetic and physiological approaches including the generation of unique transgenic and knockout models, cardiovascular and neurophysiological techniques (mouse telemetry, cardiovascular function assessment, brain microinjections, microdialysis), gene therapy tools including but not limited to siRNA and viral transfection (optogenetics, DREADD), molecular and recombinant DNA methodology, immuno-histochemistry and biochemical methods (e.g. Circ Res. 2017, PMID: 28512108; J Physiol. 2018, PMID: 30151830). Required: PhD, or equivalent, in Biology or Health Sciences. Preferred: Candidates will have recently acquired a doctoral degree in Neurosciences or related field and have a strong background in molecular biology. A significant publication record from doctoral work is also required.

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (www.medschool.lsuhsc.edu) is a state-of-the-art facility with well-equipped imaging and core facilities.
