Pre and Postdoctoral openings – University of Texas – Arlington

Posted 3 weeks ago

Predoctoral and post-doctoral positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Nelson at UT Arlington.

The Applied Physiology and Advanced Imaging lab are focused on questions relating to human health and cardiovascular disease, specifically pertaining to 1) cardiac physiology and ventricular function, and 2) vascular regulation and neurovascular coupling.

Current projects include an NIH R01 on myocardial steatosis and ventricular function, an American Heart Association grant on diastolic dysfunction in women with ischemia but no obstructive coronary artery disease, an NIH funded program project grant of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and an NIH R15 focused on skeletal muscle blood flow regulation and microvascular perfusion.

We use a variety of tools and techniques to evaluate cardiac morphology, function, and metabolism, including MRI and echocardiography. To assess skeletal muscle blood flow regulation and microvascular perfusion, our lab specializes in Doppler ultrasound, near-infrared spectroscopy, and diffuse correlation spectroscopy.

Candidates with previous experience with any of these techniques will be given priority, but anyone interested is encouraged to apply.

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Michael Nelson directly at
