Passing of Dr. David Kem

Passing of Dr. David Kem

Dear AAS members,

With sadness, we acknowledge the passing of Dr. David Kem due to complications of COVID. David was the George Lynn Cross Research Professor and Regents Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in the section of Endocrinology and Diabetes. He became interested in autonomic disorders relatively late in his career but quickly became an advocate for patients with dysautonomia. His investigations of the role of G protein coupled receptor antibodies in postural tachycardia syndrome and other forms of dysautonomia has stimulated a new avenue of research in our field.

Those of us who knew Dr. Kem, even peripherally, were always impressed with his gentle and honest personality as well as his clear enthusiasm for his work. The American Autonomic Society will miss him very much, and we extend our condolences to his wife and family
